Perfume and cologne - fundamentally different perfumed products, although, of course, in fact they may well be called "next of kin". Perfume and cologne "concentrated" difference

If for a moment forget that perfumes and colognes - absolutely different representatives, in essence, perfume categories of female and male, the only difference between the perfumed products is their concentration. The spirits (or eau de parfum, that is actually a "pure" perfume) has the most high concentration of aromatic substances. Perfume and cologne: What's the difference?

Cologne as an independent "perfume product"

Unlike perfume, cologne in the perfume industry - a phenomenon, in fact, unique because cologne - is not only one of the many variants of the concentration of perfume products, but also quite independent perfume "work", "invention" of a few centuries ago.

History of cologne as the single representative of men's fragrances has its roots in the distant past. Back in 1709 a certain Giovanni Maria Farina, an Italian perfumer, has created (and according to some legends simply stolen by Italian nuns) special "recipe" of the original flavor and founded in the German city of Cologne, the entire factory for the production of cologne. The name of the original flavor is obtained after Cologne - German its name sounds like «Kölnisch Wasser», or "Cologne Water" and in French - «Eau de Cologne», that is, in fact, "cologne." The name original perfume product enterprising Italians kept to this day.

Thus, long before the 19th century enterprising perfumers borrowed the original name of cologne for a fundamentally new version of the product concentration of perfume, cologne perfume as a standalone product is already popular. The original cologne had such a pleasant smell that very soon its "author" Giovanni Farina became the official supplier of many royal families (known, for example, that a big fan of "Cologne Water" was the Prussian King Frederick II).
