Turkish cinema does not stand still, and developing, going ahead by leaps and bounds. One of the interesting experiments of the new TV season is the American adaptation of the series "Revenge". Name of the project did not change as the basic concept, but the actors had to work hard to play better than Western counterparts.

Forgiveness or Revenge

All that had little Derin, her father, Adil. The girl loved him madly, he's not looked for the soul daughter. Once in the house came Adil people accused him of a crime he did not commit, and Derin was taken to a children's home without giving goodbye. All the time in prison, Adil wrote her daughter a letter of memories that she knew that he was innocent.

Grown Derin (Beren Saat) receives a letter and a box of his father, with all its secrets, know what really happened in her childhood. Father did not return, he died in prison, and she decides to take revenge. She takes Beret - a symbol of French charm   Yagmur name and returned to their homes - a prestigious area, where the elite of Istanbul. These people were once friends of her father's friends betrayed him now Derin sole purpose - to destroy them and clear the name of Adil, whatever the cost.

Turkish adaptation

"Revenge" is hardly even a full adaptation, this is the same series that was released in the US a few years ago, only changed the geography and the cast. Artistic style Turkish counterpart seeks to imitate in the details: resemblance to those actors who play a role in the American drama, copies of costumes, hairstyles, accessories and even a selection of similar scenery - deliberately and obviously similar. In the series difficult to find differences than similarities.

The desire to "copy" also applies to the actors. Beren Saat follows the same line of conduct that the actress and her colleague Emily VanCamp, she plays the main character detached, thoughtful and almost arrogant, it is expressed in a minimum of facial tension - almost never face Derin does not reflect any emotion. Imitation of characters from the original series is also different and Engin Hepileri occupied as a computer genius and the assistant of the protagonist Hakan, Arzu and Gamze Kilic, who plays the main antagonist Derin, a former lover of her father Sahiki.

This similarity can hardly be accidental, but is likely to be imposed. The director of the series of Turkish acts Mesud Erarslan ("Glow cocoon"), he could shoot something of their own, even using almost finished the script, however, is that the viewer sees on the screen - this desire to be like the original, borrowing inspiration.

More than a Copy

"Revenge" - this is an interesting creative experiment, an attempt to transfer the western series in the eastern culture, to show that the differences are minimal. Instead, the differences with the borrowing even more striking: despite the adaptation of the script made Berkun Oya, the project is more than half the US, it feels false in relation to the traditional oriental culture, which can not just throw the dynamics of relations between the characters, of the reasons for their behavior. It turns a beautiful, well-thought-out tale that is weakly correlated with the real world. However, the original series can be called deliberate, there are a lot of hype and metaphors that help build a dramatic story, not making it at least as a reasonable and plausible.

Turkish "Revenge" is different in length, each series is extended by two hours instead of the usual for the western broadcasting forty-five minutes, and the script does not undergo dramatic changes, neither in action nor in the dialogues. Turkish filmmakers somehow magically manage to stretch airtime twice without changing, in fact, nothing. This special ability is written in the dignity of the director's work, because the series does not seem to be tightened and they have some deliberately long pauses, which could be thrown during installation.

In the first season, as the original, there are 22 series. The series shot worthy of the original. Despite the fact that Turkey's "place" not up to the US on quality of attention to detail and style, it has a certain cinematic attempt to reach the heights, and this attempt can already count for the success.
