The history of women's trousers
For most of Western history, women's clothing is fundamentally different from men's, and in a society there are strict rules prescribing people to dress according to their own sex. It is the culture of the East inspired the French designer Paul Poiret (1879-1944) to create for the first time in the history of dress pants designed for women. In 1913, Poiret created a broad, loose pants women, known as harem pants or trousers. This idea he learned from a collection of popular costumes for the opera at the time, "Scheherazade," written in 1888 by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov (1844-1908), based on the famous Arab "Tales of 1001 Nights."
Development
Trousers began to give preference to women engaged in physical labor. When the First World War (1914-1918), many women had to replace men who had gone into the army. For office workers the main article of clothing was still skirt and workers of factories were forced to wear trousers and overalls. After the war, women are reluctant refused so comfortable clothes in which they feel at ease. Another famous French trendsetter, Gabrielle Coco Chanel (1883-1971), she liked to wear slacks and pantsuits, and developed a lot of female models sports and other kinds of activity.
