The series "Castle" was born out of close cooperation "Central Partnership" and the studio "BelarusFilm." In 2010, on the basis of joint work on the screens it was released feature film "Brest Fortress". Soon after the film was divided into four parts, added to his historical chronicle and scenes not included in the "complete meter", changed the name. So the film "Brest Fortress" became a TV series and aired already as "Fortress".

The plot of the series

The series tells the story of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War. The story begins on 21 June 1941 at the western edge of the Soviet Union, at the border with Poland. Brest Fortress - the first garrison, which accounts for enemy attack. Lieutenant Andrew Kizhevatov, Major Pyotr Gavrilov and Commissioner Yefim Fomin - they and many other people they serve in the castle, not knowing what to expect. And the fortress itself has long since evolved from a military fortification into inhabited dwellings, where in addition to the military lodge their wives and children.

The story unfolds in front of the audience, told from the boy's face trumpeter Sasha Akimov, playing in the regimental band. He was in the fortress on the day the war started, when the long exhausting siege. He became a liaison between those who managed to survive after the first strike. And survived in spite of everything.

Interpretation or vision?

In the series, the events of Defense fortress seem rather arbitrary way, as important cinematic authenticity. However, the series was evaluated as valid, even if not at the stage of pre-war life, the imitation of the bombings and shootings. The reliability of this kind of films makes them bitter and touching, soulful wonder just what they are based on real events.

"Fortress" kicks a tear, if I may say so. The idyllic picture of pre-war life, love, family relations, petty quarrels, movies, festive mood - all this violated the ruthlessness and destructive power of war. Heroes of the Brest Fortress yesterday simply were serving for the protection of the border, none of them thought that the next day they will be in the way of the enemy, will be at the center of military operations. They waited for help, but no one came. The defenders of the Brest Fortress held out for four months with little food and water, with minimal supplies of arms and ammunition. The history of this confrontation is still covered with legends and speculation.

In the series, a little speculation?

Could not find enough space and basement of the fortress in which hid the defenders, they appear only in passing. At the same time it should be noted that the series was filmed in the same place sixty years ago there was a tragedy: half a kilometer from the present fortress was built for the filming of a copy. During the construction of decorative fortifications were found and reburied the remains of Soviet soldiers. The crowd were residents of Brest, among which may well find the descendants of those who survived in those terrible days. The hero of the series, Pasha Akimova, there is a real prototype Klypa Peter, who survived the siege of Brest Fortress.
