Supervisory, attentive and motivated Hubert de Givenchy opened his own brand in 1952. Paris applauded twenty-five designer who demonstrated his taste and ability to think innovatively. In reality, Givenchy had no craving for experiments sought by other colleagues, has earned a reputation in the fashion circles. His work is born in the shortage of materials, which the young debutant could not be.

Zhivashi kept his head, he made a bet on the cut, which is not only found fans in Paris, but has become a cult. His white "Bettina blouse" was sewn from cotton, but did not seem unaffected by the original sleeves, ruffles decorated with black and white border. This item of clothing was named Bettina Graziani, the model and the main inspirer. Very soon, this place was taken by another woman with whom Givenchy friendship tied on four decades.

In March 1954, twenty-four in the United States Audrey Hepburn received the "Oscar" for best actress in the film "Roman Holiday", which instantly made her the star of the first rank. By that time already accepted the offer of work in the new project - the film "Sabrina" in which her character was going to Paris to study in the States, and then back, wrapped in a mysterious French charm. To get as an image more believable, Hepburn went to Paris to meet with the young designer Hubert de Givenchy, and ask him to create costumes for the film.

Their meeting was a surprise to the fashion designer. Audrey became a star in the US but not in Europe, where it is good to know other Hepburn - by the name of Catherine. It was waiting for her Givenchy when met him came a fragile girl with huge eyes, absurdly dressed, more like a teenage boy. Of course, he agreed to create the costumes for her, and from that moment they began their long-term friendship.

In 1993, the actress died of cancer, and this event was crucial in the life of Givenchy. He realized that he had lost his muse and he is not one else to do. In 1995, the maestro announced his departure from the industry, but also for the creation of the images come from Givenchy John Galliano. A year later, the creative director of the house was assigned to another Briton, Alexander McQueen, who worked until 2001. He was replaced by Julian McDonald, and in 2005 the chief designer of the French brand has become Ricardo Tisci.

The British and Italian, of course, brought the vision of the fashion Givenchy, which is significantly different from what the creator of the brand was doing.
