In the Soviet stage it existed, though not quite openly, certain national quotas: almost every republic of the Union was to have a musical Olympus at least one representative. That is to say, the cultural equality. But Tamara Gverdtsiteli always seen as a special phenomenon: is it even barely remembered as a singer of such a nationality, but recovered for the identity and any special porodistost.
From childhood on stage
Tamriko (Tamara) Gverdtsiteli M. was born in Tbilisi on January 18, 1962. Her parents at first had nothing to do with music: my mother, Inna Coffman, worked as a teacher of Russian language and literature, his father, Mikhail Pavlovich Gverdtsiteli, was a mathematician and programmer. However, the paternal grandmother was just a music teacher, and apparently musical talent was passed Tamara for this line. By the way, a kind of Gverdtsiteli is noble and has a rich history: according to family legend, the founder of the family name became the ancestor, who displayed courage during waged in the XIV century Georgian-Turkish war, when during one of the battles he was wounded, but did not retreat from the battlefield (" Tsiteli "means" red blood ", but" gverd "this" side ").
Vocal and musical talent Tamriko first noticed the little mother, who in 1972 led her to famous Georgian children "Mziuri." There's outstanding vocal Gverdtsiteli quickly identified, and soon she has become a soloist of the ensemble. With this in childhood, she received quite well known: in fact "Mziuri" was perceived as a kind of musical calling card of the Georgian Republic and as such performed many tours throughout the Soviet Union, appeared regularly on television. At the same time Gverdtsiteli studied at the School of Music, after which he entered the Tbilisi Conservatory, class composition and piano, as well as in a special music school, where she studied singing. So in the eighties she began her professional career as an independent artist with a great base.
This was confirmed in 1981 when Tamara Gverdtsiteli won the All-Union Festival in Dnepropetrovsk. After that, within a few years, it is constantly replenished his repertoire, gradually getting more and more popularity in the Soviet Union. By the time she was a family man: in 1984 she married director George Kahabrishvili, in 1986 the couple had a son, Alexander (later Tamara has been married twice).
Actress for intelligent listeners
But the real star was the Gverdtsiteli not in the Soviet Union. First, because very soon the Soviet Union as a state simply ceased to exist. Secondly, because since 1991 the singer has been actively working abroad. By the time Gverdtsiteli with his family moved to the United States, as in Georgia late eighties - early nineties it was very restless, all the prerequisites of civil war and ethnic conflicts were evident. So the tape recordings of vocal works of their own performance Tamara sent to Paris, the great composer, singer, arranger, musician and producer Michel Legrand, even from America.
And very soon she was invited to a meeting with Legrand, who signed a contract with her, and for a certain time Gverdtsiteli active on the French stage (thanks, in repertoire there are songs in more than ten languages). Cooperation Gverdtsiteli and Legrand lasted several years and was very fruitful - to witness performances of Tamara in the legendary Parisian concert hall "Olympia" (speak at this stage for the European singers about the same as a ballet dancer to perform solo at the Bolshoi Theatre) in 1994 and on the stage of the New York Hall "Assembli Hall."
After the end of the contract Gverdtsiteli some time resided in the United States, and in the second half of the nineties came to Russia, where her singing career has continued at a new stage. Special scope it has taken in the new century, when thanks to the participation in a variety of popular television projects (and especially the First Channel show "Two stars") Tamara appreciated viewers not only older, but also a new generation.
