free T4
The thyroid gland regulates the body's metabolism. Symptoms of overactive thyroid include insomnia, irritability, nervousness, weight loss and increased intestinal motility. The symptoms of an under-active thyroid include fatigue, weight gain and lack of motivation. If the result of the analysis on hormones free T4 thyroid gland is not correct, it may also indicate a thyroid cancer.

What is T4

4 - is a thyroid hormone, which has four units of iodine. Iodine is used by the thyroid gland to produce thyroid hormone, and digest the food we eat. The body contains more hormones T4 than T3, but is an active hormone T3.

Endocrinology

If you think that you have a thyroid problem, ask your physician to recommend a good specialist endocrinologist. Endocrinologists specialize in issues related to the thyroid gland (which produces hormones), and better prepared to help you cope with these problems than general practitioners. Endocrinologist check your level of T4 and T3 levels and TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone).

Overactive thyroid gland

If you suspect that you have an overactive thyroid gland, you can simultaneously make an analysis of the level of the hormones T4 and TTG. The therapist may prescribe an analysis called "total T4" or common thyroxine. If the results show that your levels of total T4 above normal (4-11), but your TSH is below normal (0, 5-5, 5), then you may have an overactive thyroid gland. This is also called hyperthyroidism.

In the analysis, called "free T4" normal levels - from 0, 8 to 1, 8.

If the analysis determined that the level of free T4 than 1, 8, then you may have an overactive thyroid gland.

Low-active thyroid gland

If the results of the analysis will show the Total T4, your T4 below normal levels (4-11), and your TTG above normal, it indicates a lack of activity of the thyroid gland. This is called hypothyroidism Hypothyroidism Hypothyroidism
 .

If the results of the analysis on the free T4 show that it is below 0, 8, then you might not be enough active thyroid.

Treatment

If you have found excessive activity of the thyroid gland, treatment would include medication, surgery or radioactive iodine. The last two methods reduce the size of the thyroid gland, which in turn will reduce the production of T4. Drug therapy can help stop the production of thyroid hormones, but are not usually considered to be a long-term solution. If surgery removed the entire thyroid gland, or part of it. In the treatment of radioactive iodine, you will receive radioiodine and, after treatment, lasted for several weeks or months, the thyroid gland is completely or partially destroyed.

No surgical technique or treatment with radioactive iodine are not accurate, and many patients become decreased activity of the thyroid gland, which is then regulated medicines.

If you have found a lack of activity of the thyroid gland (or she appeared after removal of the thyroid gland), you will be assigned to hormone replacement therapy, and the drugs have to be taken every day for life.

What affects the normal functioning of the thyroid gland

The following factors potentially impede the normal function of the thyroid gland:

  • Effect of environmental toxins, such as chemicals, heavy metals, pesticides, electromagnetic radiation. Mercury fillings and chlorinated or fluoridated water also influence. Bromine is present in foods like pastries, it can adversely affect the thyroid. Increasing the level of bromine in the blood plasma can cause increased TTG likely inhibit the activity of the thyroid gland.
  • Genetic predisposition.
  • Deficiency of minerals such as iron, silicon, zinc, iodine, copper, calcium, magnesium, manganese, and so on.
  • Autoimmune disorders.
  • High levels of stress.
  • Infections.
  • Adrenal insufficiency.
  • The dominance of estrogen.
  • High levels of prolactin.
  • A diet rich in refined cereals, soy, alcohol, coffee, hydrogenated fats.

Common symptoms of thyroid disease

  • Hypothyroidism

Hypothyroidism - the result of lack of activity of the thyroid gland where the TSH increased. The thyroid gland is not working in full force, and the pituitary gland produces a high level of TSH to stimulate the thyroid gland. Hypothyroidism is associated with infertility, because it causes problems with ovulation. Women who have symptoms of low activity of the thyroid gland, are experiencing heavy menstrual bleeding, anovulatory cycle, sufficiently long cycle. Women who have high levels of prolactin in the serum, resulting in low thyroid function may experience symptoms amenorrhea.

. Symptoms of an overactive thyroid gland are usually at low levels of TSH. Hyperthyroidism is diagnosed by measuring the level of thyroxine in the blood serum.

  • Euthyroidism

This medical term refers to a condition in which the TSH level is normal, but the woman is experiencing symptoms of thyroid dysfunction. It is also associated with unexplained infertility.

Herbal remedies for diseases of the thyroid gland

Herbal remedies can be very effective in the treatment of thyroid diseases, especially when combined with a healthy diet that supports thyroid function.

 alt

Normal levels of T4

  • Serum total T4 - about 4, 5 to 12, 5. Low T4 with high TTG indicates hypothyroidism.
  • The level of free T4 - from about 0 7 to 2, 0. If the level of free T4 is low, this indicates hypothyroidism.

Women's health and function of the thyroid gland

It seems that the dominance of estrogen contributes to sluggishness of the thyroid gland, and then hypothyroidism. Replacement estrogen therapy, a cure for infertility and estrogen dominance reduce thyroid function. The effect is felt throughout the endocrine system, leading to a hormonal imbalance in the female body, irregular menstrual cycles and infertility.
