Workflow

To form the crown Feijoa should be in late autumn or early winter, when the tree is dormant and less vulnerable to insects and diseases that can infect pruning wounds. Sterilize pruners before using the blade, dip them in boiling water for 30 seconds or by wiping them with a cloth soaked in alcohol.

Remove any branches, twigs, and shoots in the lower third of the trunk feijoa. These branches and shoots will not bear fruit, and their removal will give a feijoa tree form. Place the pruner blade at an angle of 45 degrees and cut the branches from the trunk, leaving short stumps, which are then quickly dry up and heal.

Check the crown for feijoa upright growing branches. Cut them with pruners with long handles to let in more light and air the rest of the branches. Be healthy branches that are growing at an angle of 60 to 90 degrees from the trunk.

In the spring and early summer, pay attention to the crossing and rubbing processes in the crown, especially during fruit development. Friction causes damage to the bark and fruit damage. Again, remove weak branches, leaving the strongest.

Remove dead, diseased or damaged storm processes as they are identified at any time of the year. Abandoned damaged branches on the tree will reduce its strength, and as a result it will bring less fruits.

Cut Cut the branches and throw them in the trash bags. It should be sterilized tools for cutting up their storage and use on other trees to avoid the transfer of eggs of insects or disease.
